What do your students dream of becoming?
And how many of them will fulfill that dream? PIC Pathfinder Career Assessment puts them on the path of discovering how their career dreams stack up against the individual feelings towards various work environments
The PIC Pathfinder program provides a variety of career choices through high definition live-action videos that showcase real work environments.
This unique interest inventory taps into the affective rather than the cognitive domain - measuring interest based on how a student feels about a work environment rather than basing interest on prior (often inaccurate) knowledge of a career path.
After watching the videos, the platform matches how your students feel about different types of work and working environments with realistic career choices they will find enjoyable and rewarding.
Our format and delivery makes the assessment perfect for all students - no reading required and assessments can be paused and resumed for students who may need multiple sittings to complete.
PIC features two levels of assessment, which can be selected individually based on each student's needs. Group 1 includes 119 videos which are rated on a five-point color-coded scale. It also includes 11 stated interest questions where the student's cognitive response is recorded and match to the affective response. Group 2 includes on the 119 videos rated on a simpler three-point color coded scale

The PIC Pathfinder is an online assessment that helps determine your student's interest in their career paths by presenting high quality videos of real work environments. By tapping into a student's feelings about different work environments, PIC matches them with specific career clusters that may be of interest to them - sometimes in areas they never even thought about!
Students are presented with 119 high quality videos. These short, 10-second videos aim to capture your student's initial response to a particular work environment. Students are encouraged to give their initial response on a five- or three- choice scale (Like - Neutral - Dislike) on how they feel about what they see.
Unlike many career interest assessments which lock in to what a student thinks about a career path, our assessment taps into the your student's affective domain (how they feel) about what they see. Our results do not rely on what a student knows (or doesn't know) about any given career field - but rather what they see in front of them - which sets us apart from many paper/pencil tests.
Choose from one of two versions for every student - one with a five-point scale and one with a three-point scale for easier decision making. Our scales are also color-coded and all videos and instructions include full audio making the asessment accessible for non-readers. In our higher functioning assessment, 11 stated interest questions are included for additional insight into the cognitive domain and affective domain matching. The assessment, in all, can be completed in 20- to 30- minutes, but also has the ability to stop and return for students that need to complete it in multiple sittings. Overall, our assessment is recommended for any student from middle school to adult - and can be taken year after year as interests change.
119 high-definition, 10-second videos depict work environments within the 16 Career Clusters. Students are encouraged to respond quickly based on their intial feelings of what they see.
By encouraging students to respond based on how the feel towards the environment presented, the assessment measures their affective response to a work environment. This unique approach allows students to respond without over-thinking what they know (or don't know) about a career.
The PIC Pathfinder report identifies the top 3 career clusters, as well as a student's respons to all clusters. Students can read detailed information about their chosen cluster and explore a variety of job titles recommended for them within those clusters.
The PIC Pathfinder Assessment is conveniently and safely accessed through our web-based assessment portal and can be accessed independently by the student, or administered by a teacher or administrator. The format is audio-enabled and accessible to non-readers. Choose between two versions of the assessment on a individual level based on your students' particular needs.
The PIC Pathfinder Group One Assessment is recommeded for the general population of students and adults. This version includes all 119 videos rated on a 5-point color coded slace. Also included in this group are 11 stated interest questions where cognitive response is recorded and matched to the affective response.
Group Two Assessment is recommended for lower functioning students and includes only the 119 videos rated on a 3-point color-coded scale.
As part of our PIC Pathfinder reports, students are presented with links to O*Net Online to research more into the recommended job titles. Through this link, students can find out more about job descriptions, duties, educational requirements, and so much more.
